Gyða
Software tester extraordinaire. You might say it's in her blood. She'll touch a payment terminal and it crashes. The self-checkout kiosk? Blue screen. Hardware and software start breaking down in a radius around her. Even as a kid it happened to her toys. Not fun then. Absolutely a superpower now.
Testing software since 2007, Gyða has led testing efforts at major Icelandic financial institutions, Landsbankinn and Íslandsbanki, covering everything from online banking systems to mobile apps across multiple platforms. She specialises in web and mobile application testing, with a focus on cyber security and user experience.
In 2024 she shifted focus to cybersecurity and penetration testing. Light pen testing has always been part of solid software testing, now she gets to give it real attention. She contracts with Defend Iceland, a bug bounty program, where she was the first woman to report and claim a bounty on the platform. She conducts security assessments and vulnerability research, and trains on Hack The Box, PortSwigger, and Try Hack Me to deepen her skills.
She makes her own tools as needed and recently got into app development. Building software herself gives her a better understanding of how it functions and how it doesn't, making her even better at finding issues in other people's software.
Gyða has spoken publicly on testing and cybersecurity, and would love to do more of it. → ping her now
